h Mr J. Sparrow, one of the best known figures in Central Otago'dredging circles, and proprietor of the well-known Sparrow Foundries, im JJunedin, is, with Mrs Sparrow, spending a few days in Blenheim,, and i» • stopping at the Criterion Hotel. Mr Sparrow is a a authority on dredgei building in New Zealand. He has been attending the conference of. engineers and iron-founders in Wellington, and took occasion to run over and sample Marlborough's salubrious climate. - /Mr T. B. Heffer, of the local branch 'of the Bank of New South Wales, whohas been transferred to Wellington, was met by the members of the iiin i Hockey Club on Wednesday, when a: j presentation was made him of a set [ of handsomely- mounted military hair brushes. Mr Fisk, the captain of the club, in making the presentation, referred to Mr Ueffer's long connection with the club, lasting over a period of six years; ever since, in fact, the club was formed. The members of thd team wero very sorry to lose their wing, but they were glad for his own sake at his promotion, and wished him every success -in his new sphere of operations. Mr Esson also spoke, after which Mr Heffer, in feeling terms, replied.
