LICENSING ■'" GORIMiItTEES.

NOMINATIONS IN OTHER

PLACES

[press association.]

V, ELLINGTON, March 2.

A licensing election will be necessary in the Butt district, but in Weliington City the no-license ticket has been declared elected, in the absence •of any other nominations. In Wellington Suburbs ad Wellington South, both of which electorates have carried no-license, no nominations have been made for the committee.

NAPIER, March 2. Only the old members of tire Licensing Committee have been nominated, rendering an election unnecessary. GISBORNE, March 2. There will be contests for the licensing election in the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne electorates. In the Bay of Plenty eight nominations have been received. In Gisborne it had been decided in a conference between the liquor and no-license parties to avoid a contest, with the object of saving the local bodies the expense of the •election, and the Trades and Labour Council, which had intended nominating a candidate, fell in with this idea; but a few minutes before clos-ing-time five Independents were nominated, making eleven candidates now in the field.
