A Dunedin telegram states that the Hon. Mr Fergus, presiding over the annual meeting of the Standard Insurance Company, said that the income for the year was £113,023, and the expenses £97,456, leaving a balance of £1-5,565, from which the halfyearly usual dividend was paid. The directors recommended the payment of a further half-yearly dividend of 7i per cent., with a bonus of 2£. He regretted that they were unable to set aside anything this year to the reserve, but they were able to carry forward1 £8065.
