VESSEL IN A BAD POSITION.

TUG DESPATCHED TO HER

ASSISTANCE

[press association.]

WANGANUI, Dec. 18. The three-masted scow Ururoa, coal-laden from Newcastle for the Wanganui gasworks, went ashore last night on the sea beach about a mile south of the entrance to the port. She lies about 250 yards from the shore, in a bad position, and though floating at high water it is believed that she will ground at low. No communication has yet been had with her, though the tug Thistle has gone to her assistance. Her bulwarks appear to have broken away.
