PURE SEED.
THE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE BILL. ;
DEPUTATION TO MR McNAB '..-■[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ,
WELLINC4TON, Sept. 14
To-day a deputation representing the seed importers of Wellington waited upon the Hon. Mr McNab regarding the Agricultural Produce Sale and,lmportation Bill. It was represented that the penal clause would apparently hamper very greatly the importation of seed into New^ Zealand. It was impossible for merchants to guarantee that all seed would be absolutely free from Californian thistle.
,', The Minister promised to send the Bill to the A. and P. Committee of the Upper House, and undertook that ihe Bill would' not be considered before Friday v He recognised that the Bill would jiot be a success unless the responsibility was eventually put upon ihe farmer. The deputation could, he ■said, forward its view to the Oomxnitiee.
