SOUTH ISLAND SECTION.

THE DEPUTATION

On Saturday last a large and representative deputation from the Marlborough Land and Railway League, including representatives trom various Local Bodies in Marlborough, left for Wellington to interview the Prime Minister in connection with the speedy completion of the South Island Main Trunk Railway line. The deputation would be reinforced at Picton and at other places down the line by representatives from local bodies. Those who had signified the secretary of the Land and Railway League that they would go are as follows: —MessrsA. D. Loe-, Fiaxbourne Settlers' Association; R. J. Bel], Omaka Road Board; D. Chaytor, Picton Road Board; P. Meehan, Awatere Road Board; A. McCallum, Blenheim Borough Council (Mayor); 6. Maitland, Picton Borough Council (Mayor), J. H. Redwood, Spring Creek Road Board; H. M. Reader and C. Nees, Pelorus Road Board, and A. J. Murray. Mr R. F. Goulter went as president of the Land and Railway League and delegate from the Wairau Road Board.

The members of the deputation were to meet in Wellington last night, and discuss to-day's prograjnme.
