BARLEY JUDGING.
TO THE EDITOR
Sir,—l am'delighted to see that one ■ 'Farmer" amongst us ; has had' the courage to bring this' matter forward. We are all interested in the barley exhibitions at, the Show every year but we have been dissatisfied when the judging «was done by local talent. 01 these, even Mr Drew, who always judged fairly, recognised thp need for outside men, and has ever since refused to act, and Mr Fell would'do well to follow Mr Drew's lead. If our Association is too parsimonious to pay the expenses of an outside judge we barley.growers might possibly send the hat round for donations. Better do that than see the largest and most interesting exhibit discouraged for want of the proverbial, "penn'orth of tar." Let jthe. Committee, if they will be "stingey,". get local talent to judge the merino sheep borrowed and exhibited by ''cookie" syndicates like those of a former show, but do not let them destroy our barley exhibit,—l am, etc. "ANOTHER FARMER."
