AT CROSS PURPOSES.

MARYLEBONE AND THE COUNTIES.

THE POSITION EXPLAINED

[press association..] (Received July 18,3.10 a.m.) LONDON, July 17. Mr Denison, representing Nottinghamshire on the Advisory Committee, affirms, as the result of inquiries in Nottinghamshire and several other leading Counties, that their position was-one of acquiescence in Marylebone s proposals, and not of approval. •Both have been at cross purposes throughout, Marylebone promoting the triangular contests under the idea that it was the strong wish of the Counties, and the latter acquiescing m the belief that they were obliging Marylebone.

"One thing Is certain: There is a practically unanimous feeling tha* if only one team comes to England in 1909 that team should be Australian. 1' lian."
