June 25. The thanksgiving service in St. Paul's was stately and impressive, though of studied simplicity.
The Lord Mayor, Sheriffs and six thousand delegates were present. ,
The bishops wore their Convocation robes. .
The Archbishop of Canterbury briefly reminded the people that they must not look for the coming of a few; colossal men to be patterns and champions of life, but the Church must valiantly, persistently and hopefully '
strive to mend what was crooked, ignorant and amiss in the world. -
The bishops presented the freewill offerings of their dioceses, amounting to £333,208, EngJa»4 «d Wales^contributing £257,122, £5599, Ireland £3939, the Arm? £394, English Colonial dioceses £63,695, and American dioceses £14,055.
