LIVE AND LET LIVE.

TO THE EDITOB. Sir, —It- Is' stated that it is in-, tended to' ran-a' coach in opposition to the Palace car now being run by Mr Poppleion to Springlands .and, -Maxwell rjßoad. .A *oach service,. niore especaally to the former sub orb, • has been • a long-felt want. - However, a great, number of people now realise the convenience of the service1, and should be grateful to -the enterprising proprietor who took up the "venture. I understand there used to ,be a coacli service to Springiands some years back when our population was considerably smaller than it is to-day. Times then were not so prosperous in Blenheim, and for want of sufficient patronage the service was discontinued. .Not living along either route which the seryi^ie affects, I can have an unprejudiced view of the situation, more especially so as either Mr Poppleton or the opposition party are practically unknown to me. lam a believer in opposition, which the proverb says is the soul of business, but unless the residents of the localities referred to do not want to revert to the old order of things, they should unite one and all and j patroni:;? the " Palace cars," or they will find, after a few months, i,t will be '" rui: off," and once it ceases the other side will say it does not pay the blacksmith's bill, and also pull out. Would-be patrons will then be ; able to console themselves and pay the modest fare of 5s for a cab to be taken home a distance of half a mile or so on some dark, wet night.— Yours, etc., ™ FAIR PLAY, j Blenheim, June 25.
