OBITUARY.

CAPTAIN S. B. HOLFORD. [PKE3S ASSOCIATION.] NAPIER, June 12. Captain S* B. Holford, of the Union Company's steamer Whangape, died this morning, after an illness which had confined him to the hospital for some weeks. The deceased, who was a son of Capt. Holford, for many years harbourmaster at New Plymouth; had been in the Union Company's service for about fifteen years, during which time he had commanded the Whangape, Takapuna, Pateena, and other boats, being particularly well-known on the west coast of both Islands. The deceased, who was 43 years, of age, leaves a wife and' one son.
