THE EARL OF DUDLEY.

WILL DISCUSS AUSTRALIA WHEN HE KNOWS IT. \ [press association.] (Received June. 12, 8.10 a.m.) LONDON, June 11. The Earl of Dudley was present at a pageant at Dudley Castle. Speaking at a banquet in recognition of his appointment as GovernorGeneral of the Commonwealth, he .said that he should act on Mr Chamberlain's advice to a former Colonial Governor to say nothing about Australia until he i came back. He believed in the nobility of the public service, and^ was unable to see why a politician should be less willing to accept service abroad than a soldier with a young, virile and warm-hearted people, who inherited British traditions but were untrammelled by customs prevailing in older countries, and had the advantage of a clean slate.
