TO LADY GOLFERS.
Ye lady golfers who would win re- . nown ' ! As heroines of driver, putter, cleek, , I pray you, do not sigh, or blush, or ■ frown In listening to truth I need must -. speak. . \ In every rose, they say, a thorn lies ', deep; , And so at golf, as wider spreads your ■ fame, (0 woeful thought/to make the angels weepT) ' # - Your feet and dainty digits do the : same. Take heart of grace, and wear full skirts that flap And hang like giant sacks about youh hips; In purchasing your gloves, don't care a rap '" If they protrude beyond your finger-tips. And, as for boots —just buy them by the yard, For though their build at first may make you high, Remember this (the truth perhaps is , hard) — You'll find you'll easily fit them by and by. Thus gaily clad, 'tis easy to descry lo what great golfing heights you I may be borne— j The hardships of the "rough " the I vicious "lie," \ You'll treat as nothing—simply i laugh to scorn; j Anr as your ball above the' bunker j ffies, j Your happiness, I trow, will be com-! plete, i As^people murmur, easting down" their | eyes: ! "0, wonderful—o, most gigantic ( —The Throne. '
