THE PUIR DE'IL.
A Bostonian bought an estate m Scotland without' having seen it. He believed that he could trust the man he bought' it from.' And last summer, he went ,over to ' look at the. place. The dr,ive from the nearest railway station to Glen ,Accra was about twelve miles. Th'd Bostonian hired a Highlander to drive him. As the cart jogged along the .Bostonian said: "1 suppose you know the country hereabout" pretty well, my friend?" "Aye, ilka foot o' 't," the Soot answered. "And do you know Glen Accra?" "Aye, well," was the reply. '•'What sort of a place \is it?" tne American asked. The Scot smiled grimly. "Aweel, ho said. "If ye saw the de'il tethered on it, ye'd juist say, 'Poor brute!' "
