Great violence at British sailors* hands has been shown towards Chinese at Poplar, to prevent them from taki ing employment on British ships. The men allege that the Chinese are unable to pass the language test. Chinese were Bunted through manyj East-end streets. y.
CHINESE SEAMEN AT BRITISH PORTS.
(Received May 15, 8.10 a.m.) LONDON, May 14. Mr Churchill, .President of tha Board of Trade, replying to Mr Havelock Wilson, M.P., said that the recent unusual increase in the number! of Chinese seamen shipped at United Kingdom ports was a matter of serious concern, a,nd was receiving the Board of Traded prompt and searching attention.
