T,he captain states that Admiral Evans, who had been ailing ever sine© he left New York, became itidisposecl at Magdalena Bay, and under medical advice left the Fleet with the intention of entering a sanatorium at S&n Francisco. The senior officer, Admiral, Thomas, then assumed the command, and hoisted his flag on the Missouri. It Is understood that Admiral E^ans relinquished the command only temporarily, and that he will rejoin the Fleet as'soon as his health is restored.
The crews had received news of the intended visit to Australia and New" Zealand, which caused much/enthusiasm. ■,-■■■■. * ■ ;
