A Press Association telegram from Auckland states'that Mr T. T. Masefield, iron-founder } died this morning. He had been a member of the City Council and Harbour Board, and contested Grey Lynn unsuccessfully against the present Minister for Education.
Mr J. Terry, local Clerk of the Court and Registrar of. Elections, hasr received notice of his transference to New Plymouth. His successor Tstfll be Mr F. W. Hart, who is stationed at Ashburton. Mr Terry's many friends will regret his departure, whilst congratulating him on his well-deserved promotion, i . ) A New Zealander who is making a name for himself in the Home Land is Mr Walte/ Paton ; brother of Mr N. Paton, of Blenheim. Mr Paiton was for.some years a pupil of the Terrace • ' School at Wellington, <*leaving that institution to continue his studies at the Dundee High School, where he was successful in winning the junior gymnastic championship, the Ballingall gymnastic medal, and the swimming championship. He also gained prizes in Latin, French, German, English and Mathematics; in the lastnamed subject he got 100 per cent. Mr Paton is now a student of St. Andrew's University!
