CHRISTCHURCH, May 1. A startling collision between an felectric-car, and a heavy waggon at-> tached to a traction engine occurred .on ther Riccarton line last night. The traction-engine, with several waggons attached, was being driven along the tram track, # no lights being ■Shown either in frknt or behind, and the car, which was travelling at the .rate of sixteen miles an hour, crashed ,into"the roar waggon. There was a thick fog at the time. The. car was crumpled up, but the >motorman and passengers miraculously escaped without injury. The •.waggon did not sustain'any damage.
