CHRISTCHURCH, April 29. Mr William Postle-Thwaite, whose death is announced as having taken place at the family seat, The Oaks, Cumberland, was well-known in Soutn Canterbury, where for a number of years he took an active part in public^ affairs. He arrived in the Dominion' about 1873. He took an active part, with the late Mr John Grigg and Mr Thos. Brydone, in establishing the frozen meat trade, and -sent one of the first consignments of mutton from South Canterbury. He was one of the original directors of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company. Mr Postle-Thwaite left Geraldine in 1891. Some years ago he re-purchased the old'family seat in Cumberland, where he resided up to the time of his death. The eldest^ son, Mr R. PostleThwaite, is a well-known electrical engineer, and in the «arly days of the introduction of electricity into manu-J factures he carried out several important installations in different parts of the Dominion. He now resides in San Francisco. . '■ . <
