DISBANDING NAVAL VOLUNTEERS.
AN INFLUENTIAL PROTEST

Sir r Gordon Sprigg, Mr W. P. Schreiner and „■ Mr Smartt suggested that the Admiralty should consent to defray the cost from the Colony's contribution to the Royal Navy. Mr Dewallj in his reply, disclaimed any intention, to weaken7 the ties with the Motherland. He promised to consider the suggestion; but stated that; the Ministry were bound to reduce; the expenditure by a million sterling.
