The storm was sudden and very severe, and also did considerable damage ashore. The full extent of the disaster is not yet known. '; Latest news states that two schooners, and fifteen luggers were- either smashed up or sunk. Two whites, McLachlan' and Gaskiri, and about fifty coloured men were drowned. The damage is estimated at £1000.,
Altogether two hundred,boats, with crews aggregating two thousand, are affected.
Many vessels are still missing, but may have sheltered along the coast. Arrangements have been ' made to search for survivors. ' .
