HER COMMANDER KILLED.

[press association.] (Received April 29, 8.54 a.m.) LONDON, April 28. The scout ship Attentive rammed the destroyer Gala during night manoeuvres off the Kentish Knock sandbank.

The Gala was cut in halves, and sank.

Engineer^Lieutenant Drought, the commander, was killed in his berth. Fifteen destroyers were accompanying the Attentive, which struck the Gala, abaft the engine-room. The forepart sank; the afterpart, with the crew aboard, was towed to shallow water, the* destroyer Garry there rescuing them. The scout Adventure also damaged' the destroyer Riddle, which returned to Sheerness.
