Mr T. Lindsay Buick, ex-M.H.R., for the Wairau, and now one of the proprietors of the Dannevirke Advocate, was in Blenheim to-day.
Mr D. A. Strachan, Inspector,of Schools under the Marlborough. Education Board, leaves Blenheim to-mor-row for Australia. Mr Strachan will leave Picton by the Arahura and will catch the Ulimaroa at Wellington on Friday. He will spend part of his holiday in investigating the various educational systems in force in the Commonwealth, and will return to Marlborough in about a month's time.
This afternoon the staff of the Express took occasion to wish Mr R. J. Logan, who is severing his connection with this journal, "God speed." Mr p. 0. Furness, in an appropriate and neat speech, wished Mr Logan every success m his new sphere of work, and referred m glowing terms to the value ©r his services and the length of his connection with the paper. On behalr of the staff Mr Furness presented Mr Logan with a. gold-mounted fountain pen and a series of six compact reference- volumes. Mr Lo^an feelingly acknowledged .the gift, and referred to the good relations which had always existed between himself and the staff. He hoped to come back to Blenheim some day, and though he was striking out for himselr, io was pre-eminently for the sake ot experience so that later on he might be able to take a higher position on the literary staff of a newspaper. Mr Logan left by the afternoon train, followed by the good wishes of ail with whom he had been associated.
