MAN HORRIBLY MANGLED.

AUCKLAND, April 28. uohn Barrett, a single man, aged 45 years, was killed on a railway crossing last night. The last train from Waihi was approaching a level crossing near Paeroa when the driver noticed a dark object on the line. He attempted to pull up, but the train went over Barrett, who was killed instantaneously. His head was completely severed from his body, one arm was nearly^severed, both legs were badly broken, and parts <>f the body scattered over the line for about a chain.
