GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET.

Business in the grain market appears to have hardly settled down since the interruption caused by the Easter holidays. There is scarcely any grain offering, and few holders are willing to sell except at their own values. No sales of either wheat or oats are recorded.

There is a fair amount of chaff on offer, and prices are firmer, though late buyers at £4 are now offering £3 17s 6d.

Potato growers are selling their crop somewhat freely instead of pitting, and sales are being made at £3 10s for early varieties and at £3 los for Derwents and Up-to-Dates. The undermentioned are the prices paid to farmers, at country stations, free of commission, except where otherwise stated:— Wheat.—New, 4s 3d to 4s 4d, at country stations. Oats.—New, 2s 3d to 2s 4d, at country stations. Barley.—Good malting 4s 6d to 4s 9<3, at country stations. Rye Grass. —Perennial, 2s 6d to 3s 6d, extra prime seed 3s 6d, Italian good grade 2s 6d to 3s 3d. Cocksfoot.—l2lb to 131b seed, 8d to 9d.

Peas.—Partridges 3s 6d to 4s, Prussian Blues 5s 6d, at country stations. Flour.—£ll 10s per ton. Bran.—£s 5s per ton. Pollard.—£6 10s. — Oatmeal-.—£l'4.

Oatsheaf Chaff.—£3 17s 6d to £4, at country stations.

Potatoes.—£3 10s.for early varieties, and £3 15s for Derwents and Up-to-Dates, at country stations.

Onions.—£>s at country stations

Our Southland correspondent writes that oats are quoted at 2s Id to 2s 2d at country stations for large and cVoi.ce parcels for shipment. Chaff: is selling at £3 10s and potatoes at £2 10s, at country stations.
