MUTE ACKNOWLEDGMENTS,

(Received April 28, 8.38 a.m.) LONDON, April 27. In connection with Sir Henry Campbell-Uannerman's funeral, many marks of respect were shown in London. Members of the House of Commons and many Peers attended, and the House of Commons vadjourned for a day. .

The service in Westminster Abbey was crowded. :

The Kaiser, the French President and the Common wealth, of Australia; sent wreaths, while the Australian States sent a combined wreath. M. Clemenceau's presence caused tsatisfaction throughout France and Britain, and emphasised the entente. Mr Balfour was absent, owing to a -chill.

Diplomatists and many representative deputations were present; also .Mr W. P. Reeves (High Commissioner for New Zealand) and the Australian •Agents-General.
