HAVELOCK SPORTS.

For the Easter Monday sports, held at Brownlee Park (writes our correspondent) the weather was fine but overcast and cold, not, however, a bad day for such an occasion as far as the contestants were concerned, and there was a large attendance. There was some dissatisfaction, over the Havelock Handicap (the final). Butler's friends declared he had won, but the judge's decision, was for Mears. A neck and neck race and apparently a dead heat, but as the judge was at the end of the tape there is no valid reason for disputing his verdict. In the evening ,at the Town Hall a most enjoyable dance wound up the day's amusement. :; There was an exceedingily large attendance, and the surrounding districts, being well represented. Music was supplied by Miss Scott, Mr [ Godfrey mating an able M.C. The supper was catered for by Mrs H. A. Reader. ~ .
