MAX PICTURES.
The Max Picture Biograph and Vaudeville Company played to a fair audience in the Town Hall last' evening. Although the audience was not up to expectations in' the matter of numbers, those who were present appeared to enjoy the programme presented, and were not slow in bestowing their applause upon the various items. In the bioscope part of the entertainment some very good pictures were shown. Among those which found most favour with the audience may be mentioned " The Artist's Dream,." "The Little Match-seller "—a v pathetic tale of a Isew Year's night—a very good chase -; picture entitled " The Bicycle Rob- ' ber, and an excellent film from the well-known pantomime (t Beauty and the Beast." In addition to the pictures the various vocalists earned +neir share of appreciation. Mr Arthur Lloyd, who has a pleasing baritone voice, gave an excellent rendering of " The Song that the Angel &»ngs- "--an old favourite for which the audience s demanded an encore Mr Harry Wilford showed himself tobe a capable and versatile comedian, and kept the audience in excellent humour during his "turn." A descriptive song, "Ashamed of His Poor Old Dad," and a comic ■Ginger" were both greeted with hearty applause. The company is showing again tonight, a complete change of programme being presented. Among the new artists appearing are the Max, Brothers and Bro Bob Woods:
