GOOD WORK DESPITE THE
RAIN
[PBOM OtJB COBBESPONDENT.I ' NELSON, April 20. The manoaurres at Redwood's Valley are being carried out on service lines, and the operations were continued throughout Friday night under wretched weather conditions. .On Saturday morning the Red force had retired before the Blue force commanded by Lieut.-Colonel Chaytor. Operations were then suspended owing to heavy rain, which, in the circumstances, was not unwelcome to tne weary troops. On Saturday evening the officers of both forces assembled* and the work so far carried out was criticised.
A Church parade was held yesterday afternoon, and in the evening operations continued, the con> mander of the Red force (Lieii£Colonel Harkness) fighting a rearguard action oneund a-quarter miles four o'clock, the Blenheim eoSLnt ie|n^|^ b l>%?»^cel-
