At 2.30 o'clock this afternoon there were over a .thousand people on the Hibernian Sparts ground. This is a record for so early in the day. A Press Association telegram from Dunedin states that a conference between the members of the Harbour Board and the Dock Trust unanimously affirmed the principle of the absorption of the Trust by the Board, legislation will probably be introduced next session with that end in view. The Maori Land Commission has completed its investigation into the position of the lands held by the Ngati--rangitihi tribe east of Rotorua. It is understood -{says a Press Association telegram) that the native owners afe willing to sell or lease to the Gorerimient 12,000 to 40,000 acres, much of it good land. ■
