THE CUSHION CURE.
Somfyytfry pretty fashions in sofa cushiony, says an English paper, are coming into vogue this year. Sofa cushions are to be useful, as well as ornamental. They will be heaped up in boudoirs and drawingrooms, m all sizes and of all materials. Each one is to serve a particular purpose for its owner. The "lavender " cushion is made of white muslin threaded with mauve ribbons, and stuffed with lavender, flowers. , The "rose leaf" pillow, fashioned or 4?ink chiffon enbroidered with rosebuds, has quite ousted the jars of pot-pourri. It is stuffed with rosepstals, jasmine flowers, and fragment spices,' and fills the room with i>errume. The " fancy work " cushion is a neat invention. It presents the appearance of an ordinary brocaded cushion-; but when examined on the wrong,side, a flap is discovered which when opened discloses a pocket. This lsi.-.fitted with miniature scissors" needles, skeins of silk, and a thimble/ lnere is no danger in.these cushions however, for the sharp points are prcH tected by an abundance of padding. . Afternoon tea cushions are placed m visitors' chairs for the most comfortable meal of the day.
