PROBABLY A CASE OF SUICIDE. [press association.] NELSON, Nov. 8. The body found in the St. Vincent Street ditch to-day is that of Joli;i Bnrr AiLkon, a Pupong.-i minor, lie arrived at Nelson on Sunday with some other miners. There are no marks of violence on t!\;> l;udy except a graze above one oye, a slight cut on the chin, and incli'iiiations on the nose and forehead, probably caused by stones in a fall. It is unknown whether the bloodmarks in the vicinity are from a Iranian being or a beast or bird, as the marks are slight; but it is thought that probably they came from a dog. The deceased, who was addicted to drink, was separated from his wife, who is at Millerton. The wife recently applied for a maintenance order, and at the time of Aitken's death a summons for disobedience was found on him for £67. He was duo to appear at Westport. The police theory is suicide, as the hands of the deceased ■ were in his pockets, and he was lying face downwards when found.
