THE AUSTRALIAN LABOR PARTY.

CHAMPIONS IN LONDON

[press association.] (Received April 25, 8.42 a.m.) LONDON, April 24. Mr W. J. Hackett, of West Australia, read a paper before the Society of Arts dealing with the social and economic conditions of Australia. He stated in regard to the Labour party that calm" consideration would go xar to discount the fears held in so manyquarters. -

Mr Deakin, who presided, declared that the British public did not realise Australia's remarkable relative prosperity, enormous wealth, and inestimable opportunities: Australians themselves had not yet learned to realise their country's possibilities.

Mr Hughes quoted figures showing tl-at whatever their opponents asserted the Labour party had done during the last 15 years, it had not prevented Australia's going ahead.
