ALLEGED FATAL QUACKERY.
CHRISTCHURCH, April 24 An inquest which was held at the morgue before the district coroner touching tne death on the previous day ol John Joseph Greaney, aged 18, who resided with his parents at Fitzgerald Avenue. The coroner stated that it had been reported to him that on the idtn mst. deceased complained of sore throat. No treatment was given him untll 'the 19th inst., whin a man named "Doctor" Sta*nton, who was not a registered practitioner, attended him. Much had been heard lately in the papers m regard to Stanton in connection with cancer cases. Stanton attended deceased, gave him powders and apparently continued his treatment until the 22nd inst. Evidence was given that Stanton i visited the young man three times and had given him powders dissolved m cold boiled water. The father of the lad said he thought Stanton was a duly qualified medical practitioner, otnerwise he would not have had him J-ne inquest was adjourned until Thursday.
