Her Excellency Lady Plunket has been appointed an honorary colonel of the 2nd regiment of the North Canterbury Mounted Rifle Volunteers.

At St. Patrick's Cathedral, Auckland, on Monday (says the Star),Signor Romeo Bragato, Government "Viticulturist, was married to Miss Laura Condon. Dr Clements Murphy acted as groomsman, the bride being given away by her guardian, the Hon. T. Thompson, M.L.C. The Rev. Father Holbrook officiated at the ceremony, and Bishop Lenihan administered the Benediction.

A Press Association telegram states Messrs Greenwood, Hansen, and Hill, three members of the Borough Council, are announced as candidates for tlie Mayoralty of Wostport.
