CHRISTCHURCM, Jan. 7. At the Chess Congress to-day the fifteenth round proceeded. J. Mason beat Forsyth on the 56th move; Kummer beat- Gould on the 41st move; Kelling beat Crackenthorpe on the 78th move; Grierson beat Barnes on the 49th move.

The sixteenth round is proceeding. , Viner claims the Australasian championship, but Crackenthwrpe has disputed his right, and a match has been arranged to settle the question. The match has been postponed to allow both players to be present. They meet tor the first time here, and the game is certain to create great interest.
