MELBOURNE, Jan. 7.It is stated on the authority of the missionaries in the Pacific Islands that Britain and France have completed negotiations whereby France cedes Tahiti to Britain in consideration for certain territorial concessions in Burmah or Further India.

Mr Deakin states that he has received no communication in reference to the matter.
