A. start with the plastering work at the new Town Hall has been made. Two men. are engaged upon the front portion of the building, and two more are being brought over from Welling-; ton. The architect (Mr Austin) is modifying the gallery in .order to strengthen it. The 43ft cross-beams to support the roof (lOin.by 6in) are expected to arrive immediately, having been obtained in a Sydney yard. The contractor (Mr Osgood) expects the building will be out of his. hands, before the end of November, at latest.
