ACCEPTANCE OF TENDER FOR
GRANDSTAND
The Committee of the above met on Saturday for the special purpose of considering the acceptance of tenders for the erection of a new grandstand. There were present: Messrs A. McCallmn (President), H. D. Vavasour, R. McArtney, A. McKay, D. BishelL R. J. Bell, A. Gifford, D'Arcy Chaytor, J. S. .Storey, P. Median, H. Lankow, and S. M. "Neville. Mr Donald McCallum Mas also present. Two new members were elected. Tenders were 'then opened as follows:—George Gibson, £497; Wemyss Bros., £546; Robt. Brewer, £550 ss. Jt was resolved by the President, seconded by Mr Bishell, that the matter be deferred to the Building Committee, they to be empowered to accept Mr Gibson's tender upon being satisfied as to various matters. The President stated that the architect was satisfied as to Mr Gibson's competency. The President's motion was carried, after several amendmnets had been lost and points of order raised, by 7 to 2. Messrs Lankow and Chaytor dis-5-onted, and Messrs Bell, McKay and Meehan had left the room. On the motion of Mr Storey, the President, Vice-President, and Treasurer were appointed a Building Committoo to confer with the architect, arrange contract, and accept tenders. At a meeting of this Committee, held immediately afterwards, it was agreed to accept Mr Gibson's tender, the building (except shutters) to be completed by 10th November, with a penalty of 20s per day for non-comple-tion. Mr Gibson agreed to the various terms, and the contract was signed. '
