POISONED BY SHEEP DIP.
AN INGREDIENT TN HOME-MADE PICKLES. [ Fit ESS ASSOCIATION.] ■PALMER STON N., June 9. Further casos of poisoning after food have occurred hero, six people, being affected, ens young man very seriously. The doctor who was called in suspected home-made pickles as being the cor.so. Ho found that powder supposed to bo turmeric had boon used in mice of the pickles and the powder tc tlieir preparation. - He sent the balWellington for analysis. Word has boon received that the supposed turmeric pow.der was really Coopor's sheep dip powder, among the constituents of which are arsenic and sulphur. The people had, been poisoned by the arsenic. .How the sheep dip came to bo used instead of turmeric powder is at present not explained. The maker of the pickles took it from the same tin as supplied for last year's stock.
Coming so soon after the recent ptomaine poisoning, a painful impression has been created.
