Mr Meek, collector of natural his tory specimens Mr Walter Rothschild in New Guinea, makes serious charges against the police administratlon "* $he. group. He alleges that some officials utilise the police for other than protective purposes, making it impossible to obtain proper protection lie reports serious outrages and murders m the northern division. His native servants were set upon by hostile tribes; one-was killed and another wounded. On another occasion a servant was killed, and the murderers sent a cooked arm to him. ■ Mr Meek declares that'unless the police protect him. he will have to protect himself, and if anything happens the fault will not be with him
