COMMERCE ACT. PROVISIONS OF THE ANTITRUST BILL.. (Received June 8, 9.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, June 8. During the debate on the Address-in-Reply, Mr Bony them announced that he had changed during the recess into a militant Protectionist. It is understood from speaking to a large number of Protectionists, that the Gocverninent will have strong support "in carrying out the main features of its programme. A Labour Caucus was held prior, to -'the opening of Parliament to consider a resolution relating to the question whether assistance should be given to Protectionists. The result is undivulged. . The Commerce Act comes into operation to-day. A regulation regarding making the marking of goods compulsory is under consideration. The new Anti-Trust Bill contains a number of alterations, •• the most important being that inter-State trade is definitely brought within the scope of the measure. A commercial trust is made to include a combination, whether wholly or partially within or -beyond^ Australia. Unfair competition is defined as that which in the opinion of the jury is unfair in tlie circumstances.
