DETAILS FOR MARCH QUARTER

Details of the colony's trade for the quarter ending 31st March are given in the Gazette. Following are the principal items, with the figures for the corresponding quarter of 1905 in parentheses :—

Of this total the United Kingdom contributed £2,128,311 (£2,160,904); Victoria, £281,121 (£196,416); Now South Wales, £400,634 (£284,517); South Australia £13,779 (£9141); Tasmania, £13,036 (£13,275); Fiji, *£32,77 i (£47,698); Bengal, £115,605 (£139,----625); Ceylon, £43,770 (£37,997); Singapore, £10,310 (£9558); Canada. £21, 445 (£19,054); British Columbia, £10,848 (£7527); Franco, £16,303 (£16,663); Germany. £75,6-17 (£71,----247); Belgium, £28.676 (£23,106), United States, £308,958 (£420,110); Japan, £17,999 (£14,259). The figures for the chieAports are:— Auckland, £890,011 (£731,729); Wellington, £1,204,738 "(£1,088,911); Lyttelton and Christchurch, £654,----770 (£605,293); Dunediri, £618,551 (£606,911.)

The value of the exports for the quarter way £7,097,732 (£6,486,350) the principal places to which they were sent being—United Kingdom £0,007,706 (£5,568,483); Victoria. £212,991 (£210,662); New South' Wales, £459,492 (£276,191); South Australia, £8499 (£8414); Western Australia, £13,916 (£8337); Fiji, £13,470 (£8846); Cape Colony, £2680 (£3447); Natal, £19,122 (£26,047): Hongkong, £2851 (£7085); British Columbia, £4104 (£1727); France, £38,329 (£47,544); Germany, £28,----741 (£11,705); Belgium, £9599 (£5102); United States, £240,125 (£244,698); Navigator Islands, £10,----126 (£9195).

From the principal ports the figures were—Auckland, £886,395 (£742,----728); Wellington, £1,580,587 (£1,588,----77G); Lyttelton and Christchurch, £1,040,212 (£916,787); Dunedin, £648,014 (£558,916)'.
