LATE LOCALS.
A meeting.of the Marlborough Referees' Association was held last night. Most of the business was deferred for another meeting.
The river report at 9 o'clock this morning was as follows:—Opawa ford, fordable; Wairau ford, unfordable for light traffic.

The only civil case in the • Magistrate's Court this morning was W. A. Sowman v. S. Buliff, an application for an order on a judgment suiar.tons. Defendant, who said he was a married man, and only earning 35s pef'Aveek was ordered to pay 10s per month, or* in default undergo seven days' imprisonment.

At a conference between the Gas and Finance Committees of the Blenheim Borough Council/the other evening it was decided that the Borough Engineer's salary, £250, should be provided out of the gas and general accounts, the former contributing £50 and the house, and the latter £200.
