A CRISIS'NARROWLY AVERTED

(Received May 16, 10.40 p.m.) PLETERM ARITZBURG, May 16

A Ministerial crisis in Natal over the Unoccupied Land Tax Bill was narrowly averted. The Chairman of Committees was voted out "of the chair. The House did not wish Mr Smythe to resign at the present juncture. Mr Smythe empahsised the need for revenue.

There are indications that the Bill will be rointroduced after being subjected to slight amendments.
