LATE LOCALS.
An Auckland telegram announces the death of the Rev. Lawry, the wellknown Methodist minister.
Capt. Edwin wires:—" Strong winds to gale from between south and southwest and west; glass rise; tides high; sea heavy on coast; rain probable."
The funeral of the late Mr .T Jackson, which took place yesterday, was attended by members of the Foresters' Lodge. The burial service was conducted by the Rev. C. Penney.
The Marlborough Orchestral decided, at its' weekly practice last evening, to resume the honorary member system of concerts, which had been allowed to lapse during last season. The programme for the first concert is now being rehearsed.
In reference to the Nelson telegram, which appeared in last nigftt's ifsue, stating that Mr Hounsell, of that city, had attempted suicide and was not expected to recover, Mr Arthur Hounsell. of Blenheim, his son, informs us that the Press Association's account of the affair is exaggerated. He has received a private wire stating that the injury was not of a serious nature.

At a meeting of the Presbyterian Church Committee last evening it- was decided to at once place on order with M* Hobday, Wellington, . for a. new pipe organ, to be completed in January, at a cost of £410 cash. The sum oi' £280 has been subscribed towards the object duriiTg the past few weeks by the members and adherents of the church. The organ, a two-manual instrument, is to contain 13 single st6ps.
