The Town Clerk's annual report shows the capital value of Sydney properties for rating purposes to be £45,545,000, an increase of £646,000 on the preceding year. The deathrate in the city was the lowest for eight years. SALE OF YEARLINGS. SYDNEY, April 18. At the yearling sales 60 "youngsters" realised 9,925 guineas. A brother of Lord Fitzroy and a sister of Ebullition brought 850 guineas each. SHOPLIFTERS ARRESTED. MELBOURNE, April 18. A gang of women have been carrying out systematic shop-lifting for some time past. Goods have been stolen to the extent of £20 or £30 a dayTwo arrests have heeh made. A PILOT CARRIED TO SEA.ADELAIDE, April 18. Captain Pearson,, the North Sea and English Channel pilot, was brought on here by the barque Genista. A terrific sale prevented him from being landed in England.
