POSTAL, TELEGRAPH, AND TELEPHONE CHARGES.

Letters. — Each £oz 'or fraction thereof—lnland,. Australian Commonwealth, United Kingdom, British Possessions', Chili, Costa Rica, Egypt, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Paraguay, Portugal, and Portuguese Colonies, Siam, and South Sea Islands. Id; all other places 2£d. , (British New Guinea does not come under the arrangement by which the Commonswealth Post Office accepts without surcharge the New Zealand letters prepaid at the penny rate. The postage to British New Guinea is 2d.) Letter Cards.—Countries mentioned above, Id. ■ . Newspapers.-^-Town and Inland, id each; Australia and South Sea Islands and Canada, Id each; for United Kingdom, via 'Frisco and Brmdisi, first Boz Id, next 4oz Id, id for each succeeding 2oz or fraction thereofper direct steamer, Id each paper; all other countries, Id each if not exceeding 4oz and id for each additional Uoz. Newspapers over Boz which it x is desired may be sent by San Francisco or federal routes must be specially superscribed and prepaid at the rate of Id for the first 4oz and id for each succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof: Patterns and Sample Packets. —All places, not exceeding 4oz, Id; every additional 2 oz id. Tnland Telegrams.—Minimum rate, 6d for 12 words, including address and signature. Late-fee Letters, &c, must be paid Id in addition to the ordinary postage.

Telephone Exchange Connections. — From £5 to £7 per annum. Parcels.—lnland, 6d, for the first lib and 3d for each succeeding lib. Australian Colonies, Cook, Samoan, Norfolk, and Hawaiian Islands, 8d for the first lib and 6d for each succeeding lib; for all other countries the charges vary. Commercial Papers.—Town, id if not exceeding 2oz, or Id for the first 4oz and $d for each succeeding 2oz; Inland, Id for the first 4oz or less, and id for eaoh succeeding 2oz; Australia and other places, 2£d for the.. first lOoz, and id for each succeeding 2oz. Books and Printed Papers.—All' places, id for each 2ozs. Letters.—Letters not fully prepaid or posted wholly unpaid are charged double the deficiency at the prepaid rate on delivery. No letter may exceed 2ft in length or Ift in width or depth. Letters containing valuables must be registered. • Post Cards.-—All places, single Id; reply 2d. Cable Telegrams. — International: Europe, cheapest route, 3s per word. Intercolonial: New South Wales, lowest charge, 4|d per word; other colonies, various rates.
