CHRISTCHURCH, March 14. At, the Addington live stock market ..tprday there were fairly large entries ,of all-classes of stock, and the attendt.nce ; was the lai-gest this season. There was good demand for stores, esppcially breeding ewes. Fat. lambs sold even better than last week, the Aistralian buyer again competing. Prime fat wethers showed an improvement, but aged ewes were again dull of sale. Prime beef showed little change,.while inferior was easier. The market for pigs opened well, but afterwards there was a sharp decline. Store sheep—There was a very heavy yarding of store sheep, totalling over 15,000, mostly lambs and ewes, and for the latter there was a good sale," a large number of buyers being present. Lambs were not in quite such good demand as of late, and the few wethers offered were rather dull of sale. The principal sales were:— Ewes, too-tooth: 336 half bred 20s 6d to 20s lid; crossbred four-tooth, 474 at 21s 3d to 21s lid; mixed ages, young, 272 at 18s 9d; 236 at 16s 2d; six and eight-tooth, 500 at 18s 8d to 18s lid, 106 at 18s 3d, 99 at 16s; sound mouth, 213 at 17s lOd, 412 at 16s sd, 211 at 16s 6d, 233 at 15s lid, 900 at. 15s 3d, 154 at 14s 3d; failing month and aged, 96 at 14s 4d. 206 at 14s, 243 at 13s Bd, 89 at 13s Id, 120 at 12s, 28 Bat lls 6d to 11s Id, 107 at 11s (sd, 198 at lls, 191 at 10s lOd, 77 at 50s 3d; two-tooth, 97 at 10s, 271 at 8s 7d. Wethers: 4 at 15s,- 85 at 14s 6d, 815 at 14s, 86 at 13s 7d, 1320 at 13s 6d, 167 at lls 4d, 64 two, four, and six-tooth Chatham Island, 15s.

Lambs—^Bl down cross 13s 7d, 315 at 12s sd. 129 at 12s sd, 100 at 11s 9d, 100 at 11b 6d, .96 at 11s 3d, 182 at 11s Id, 183' at 11s', 289 at 10s lid, 164 at lUs lOd, 94 at 9s 3d,- 400 at 9s, 554 culls at 6s. • Fat lambs—For numbers, quality, and price the fat lamb market was the best this season, there being. 4694 entered, and so keen was the competition that the average time of selling was only a minute and a quarter per pen. Prices were even better than the previous week, Messrs John Cooke and Co.'s buyer again operating and purchasing GB9. Prices ranged at 15s to 16s 7d for best, and up to 17s 3d for extra, lighter 13s to 14s 6d, the bulk being taken for export. Fat sheep—Only a moderate number of fat sheep were entered, mostly aged ewes and light wethers. Prime sheep made a recovery from last week's decline, but aged ewes .showed little improvement. The range of prices was:—Prime wethers, 18s 6d .to 21s Id, a few .extra to 25s 6d; light, 16s to 18s; prime ewes, 16s to 17s 6d; medium 12s to 15s 6a; aged, 9s to 11s 6d.
Fafc cattle—The entry of fat cattle totalled 229 head, mostly cows and light-weight steers and heifers. There was lather a dull sale, prime steer and heifer beef selling about up to the previous week's rates, but .cows were difficult to dispose of even at. lower pricesl;/ Steers sold at £6 17s 6d to £9" us, heifers £5 7s 6cl to £6 15s,- and cows £| 17s 6d to £6 5s » equal to 20s and 21& for prime and 15s to 19s foxcows aiiejl medium quality per lOOlbs. Veal calyes sold at 7s 6d to 355, and extra to 455.
Store and dairy cattle—A small mixed entry of store cattle met with a slow sale, the principal line sold being 18 two and a-half year steers at £4 10s. Dairy cows sold fairly well at £6 10s to £7 15s for best ,and £3 10s io £6 i'or others.
Pigs—There was a large entry, of pigs, and the market for fats opened well; but afterwards it collapsed. Stores, which were mostly medium and small, were dull of sale. Baconers made 40s to 57s,,equal to 3£d to 3fd, and in the early part of the sale to 5d per lb; porkers 24s to 375, equal to 4d to 4£d per lb; medium stores 18s tb 265; slips 12s to 15s j and weaners 6s to 10s.
