THE TREATMENT OF ALIENS
(Received March 13, 10.36 p.m.) LONDON, March 13. Questions elicited that Mr Gladstone, Home Secretary, is administratively altering certain provisions of the Aliens Act. Port authorities are instructed to give immigrants from disturbed districts on the Continent the benefit of any doubts as to their being political refugees. Mf Evans Gordon, in protesting, announced his intention to call attention to the changes. Mr Gladstone stated that a ship with less uian twenty aliens was not liable to inspection.
